Melanie Garner has represented individual plaintiffs and their family members for over a decade helping them to recover millions of dollars in mass tort and personal injury cases.

After graduating from the University of Miami School of Law, Ms. Garner served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Ronald B. Graves in the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey.  She then worked as a defense attorney for two years before joining the Baltimore office of a national plaintiff’s asbestos litigation firm in 2008, where she represented mesothelioma victims across the country, as well as qui tam whistleblowers in cases brought on behalf of the federal government to recover taxpayer funds lost due to fraud.

Prior to founding Langfitt Garner PLLC, Ms. Garner worked as an attorney for a plaintiff’s firm in Philadelphia, where she continued to represent asbestos victims, qui tam whistleblowers, and individual plaintiffs in a variety of mass torts, products liability, and personal injury cases.  She worked together with David Langfitt on Schmitz v. NCAA, et al. and other NCAA concussion cases involving the development of latent brain disease and the long-term debilitating effects of playing college football.

Ms. Garner is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, as well as the United States District Courts for the District of Maryland, District of New Jersey and Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Garner has lectured at continuing legal education seminars on topics including asbestos trials, qui tam litigation, and the use in court of social media evidence.

She was nominated and selected by her peers as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2018 and 2019.

Outside of the office, Ms. Garner is actively involved in the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, serving on its Board of Governors and as Co-Chair for the Women Trial Lawyers Section.  She is passionate about education, gender equality, and civil rights, and enjoys traveling and exploring Center City with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.
